Sid Meier

producer,designer,programmer

Sid Meier is a video game designer well-known for producing various strategies and simulators. He is currently employed in 2K Games and worked in MicroProse — the company he owned.

Games

The primary game series he is known for bears his name on it: Sid Meier's Civilization. This has also been the source of multiple controversies as many titles within the series were developed not only by other people but also without any meaningful contribution from Meier's side. However, the author is well-praised as a simulator developer as he accentuates the non-boring parts in it and tries to emphasize them as much as possible. Although the list of games by him consists of 47 entries, it is hard to determine the role he played in some of them.

Awards

Meier has got 8 first awards including lifetime Golden Joystick nominations for outstanding achievements in the video game field. Other attainments come primarily from game journals such as GameSpot and IGN in efforts to grasp his contribution to video game development.
